Academic Overview & Biography

Lawrence Ogbo Ugwuanyi is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Abuja, Nigeria (since 2011) and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Fort Hare, South Africa. He holds the Doctor of Philosophy degree from the prestigious University of Ibadan (2003).

Over an illustrious academic career spanning 32 years, Professor Ugwuanyi has accumulated profound teaching, research, and executive administrative experience across five universities in Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and The Gambia.

In 2011, motivated by the vital imperative to close the epistemic divide between creative, rigorous thinking and uncritical imported theories, he established the Centre for Critical Thinking and Resourceful Research in Africa (CECTRRA). Under his leadership, CECTRRA has flourished into an influential pan-African research collaborative convening international conferences, publishing scholarly treatises, running policy workshops, and providing intellectual mentoring across the continent.
