The African Futures Academy (AFA) was conceived to address a fundamental challenge across African higher education: the growing divide between rote theory and resourceful, critical insight capable of solving continental problems.
Operating under the direct guidance of the CECTRRA Inner Think-Tank and international scholars, the Academy brings together exceptional postgraduate students, early-career researchers, policy analysts, and independent thinkers for intensive residential workshops, research fellowships, and publication incubation.
Fellows are trained not merely to consume external theories, but to interrogate inherited concepts, develop indigenous African epistemic frameworks, and produce peer-reviewed research in three major continental languages (English, French, and Portuguese).

Mastering the art of conceptual interrogation, logical reasoning, and examining classical African ontology, Afro-theorism, and indigenous cognitive systems.
Intensive masterclasses in drafting high-impact academic papers, navigating double-blind peer review, and presenting research in English, French, and Portuguese.
Developing futures thinking methodologies, climate humanities analysis, technology ethics, and translating philosophical findings into actionable policy advice.
One-on-one advising sessions with senior CECTRRA professors, collaborative research clusters, and access to an elite international scholarly network.
