— ChinweizuThe 1st Outstanding African Thinkers Conference was convened from 26 – 28 November 2018 at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, Legon under the theme "Chinweizu, Africa and the Rest of the World". Convened by Prof. Lawrence Ogbo Ugwuanyi and organized by CECTRRA in collaboration with the Institute of African Studies (University of Ghana) and Institute of African Studies (University of Ibadan), this landmark colloquium honored the intellectual contributions of Chinweizu, celebrated philosopher, critic, and author of The West and the Rest of Us and Decolonising the African Mind.
The gathering provided an unprecedented forum for African scholars to examine postcolonial theory, cognitive sovereignty, cultural decolonization, and the urgent necessity of re-engineering African educational curricula.
This is the official pledge made at the 1st Outstanding African Thinkers Conference on Chinweizu, held at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, Legon in November 2018.
